Call to find out more about our Initial Assessment

What to Expect at The Initial Assessment

The Balance Centre provides specialist Vestibular Rehabilitation treatment to help patients suffering from illnesses linked to dizziness and balance. Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized form of physiotherapy that contains exercises and manoeuvres to reduce dizziness and improve balance. On your initial evaluation.

A series of tests will be performed to determine the causes of your symptoms. These tests include:

  • Recording eye movements in the light and dark, with your head still and head moving.

  • Measurements of your ability to keep things focused with your head still and head moving.

  • Measures of your balance with your eyes open and eyes closed. Positional testing laying down and turning.

  • Depending on what shows up in the testing will determine what the treatment will be, either manoeuvre in the clinic and/or exercises you do at home. This will also be performed at the initial consultation.

The initial appointment, which includes assessment and treatment, takes 60 – 75 minutes, approximately
and the fee is €160

Every follow-on appointment takes 30 – 40 minutes approximately, and the fee is €80

If you have private health insurance, please check under the heading of physiotherapy on your plan for your level of cover. Receipts are provided after payment/completion of the appointment.

The services provided can be completed "in person" in the Balance Centre or by video link at the patient's choice.
